We added a new state to our visit list – Idaho! Because everyone wants that one on their list, right? It’s just exciting to add to your list of visited destinations, no matter where you visit…at least in my opinion!
We actually visited our friends in Spokane, Washington, and they took us over the border into downtown Couer d’Alene, Idaho for 4th of July festivities.
Lunch at Crafted Tap House
Our first order of business in CDA was to get some lunch and beers at Crafted Tap House.
Unfortunately, they seemed to be having an off day because everyone’s burgers weren’t cooked properly – and again even after they were sent back. Everyone should have stuck with the chickpea patty like I did. Haha! Vegetarian for the win! It was delicious. It was called the One Way From Harbour Grace – a crispy garbanzo bean cake, tomato confit, avocado, sprouts, baby greens, crème fraiche, and balsamic reduction.
We had to have the pretzel as well because Micah said if there was a pretzel on any menu for this trip, we would try it! It was not too bad but not as good as the Crux Fermentation pretzel we had in Bend at the start of our road trip. They did have a honey sauce to dip it in, which I thought was pretty tasty.
Lakeside in CDA
Our original intention was to stay for the 4th of July fireworks that evening down at the lake, but it ended up being really hot that day and extremely crowded. The fireworks weren’t scheduled until really late also, and we thought it might be a bit nightmarish with traffic getting out of there at the end of it.
So, we hung out around the lake for a bit, walked through hoards of interesting looking people, had a few more beers, and decided to call it a night. I can tell that the lake resort area is just beautiful though and I would actually love to go back and visit when it’s not a holiday weekend so I can really see it in all its splendor.
Has anyone else been to Couer d’Alene? What do you think?!
