If I could name one place I’d love to visit Paris again to explore, it would be the Marais neighborhood! We wandered over to Le Marais after our visit to the Notre Dame. It’s just a short walk over the river Seine to some seriously delicious eats and beautiful streets.
Falafel for Lunch
L’As du Fallafel | 32-34 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris, France
Travel can often times be more expensive than what you’ve planned for, especially in the food department. We all want to experience fabulous dining but some of us really have to stick to our budgets. Have no fear – falafel to the rescue!
If you’ve never had falafel before, they’re fried balls made out of chickpeas and spices – and it’s delicious. The street Rue des Rosiers actually has a couple of falafel eateries, so choosing which one to dine at might be hard. I had read about L’As Du Fallafel, located in the Jewish Quarter, on some other websites when doing research in Paris, so I kind of had my heart set on it.
There can be quite the line out the door for this place, especially during peak hours, but we were seated right away when we arrived around lunchtime. They have many things to choose from on the menu ranging from pita sandwiches to different combination plates, and my goodness are the portion sizes HUGE! Micah and I both got the regular falafel pita (vegan win) and it only cost us €8 for lunch.
Just look at all that yumminess happening on the plate – falafel, veggie slaw, tahini, hummus, tomato, eggplant, hot sauce! Talk about a party in your mouth. This is a great meal for both vegetarians and carnivores alike. We’ve had quite a few different falafel pitas/sandwiches, and this one ranks pretty high up there, especially with their yummy hot sauce!
You can dine in (like we did since we needed a little rest from walking) or you can order from the takeout window and wander the streets of the lovely neighborhood around you (warning – falafel pitas can be a little messy, so if you take out, make sure you get lots of napkins).
Wander the Streets of Le Marais
When I say wander, I mean it. Take a stroll, and don’t be in a hurry. Look down every street – they’re all different!
See You Next Time Le Marais!
There are a ton of cute little bistros and cafes in the Marais, and some serious pastry shops. When we return to Paris, we’ll be booking a stay in this neighborhood so we can really explore those good eats up close and personal (like L’Eclair de Genie).
Other items on our must-see list in the Marais are the Place des Vosges and the Picasso National Museum.
If you’ve ever been to the Marais neighborhood in Paris, tell us about your favorite things to do and see there!

I was loving that green hot sauce with the falafel. A real trendy and beautiful spot to stroll around after lunch was nice as well. Can’t wait until our adventures take us back some day.

Yes! The green hot sauce was the best, wasn’t it? Next time we’ll have to find that darn eclair shop 🙂
