Nestled amongst rows of vineyards at Cass Winery in Paso Robles, you’ll find this incredibly unique Bed & Breakfast called the Geneseo Inn. This one-of-a-kind property boasts eight individually-themed rooms crafted out of repurposed shipping containers, each with views of the grape vine-lined hills of Paso Robles.
If you’re looking for a quiet, luxurious, and modern countryside retreat when visiting Paso Robles, the Geneseo Inn will check all those boxes.
Location
Geneseo Inn | 7350 Linne Rd, Paso Robles, CA 93446
The Geneseo Inn is located on the property of Cass Winery, and is about a 15-minute drive east from the Downtown Paso Robles area. Because it is a little off the beaten path, we chose to only stay here for one night with the remainder of our stay at the Paso Robles Inn for a more central location with restaurants in easy walking distance.
Booking
I booked the Geneseo Inn directly via their website as they had the best rate at the time (we paid $275 plus taxes and fees for a Thursday night at the end of April). We also used points from our Capital One Venture card to pay for our room!
The inn is also available for booking at Hotels.com and Booking.com
Because there are only eight rooms available, the Geneseo Inn can book up rather quickly – especially on the weekends! Be sure to book a few months in advance if you plan on staying here.

Contactless Check-In
The Geneseo Inn has a great contactless check-in policy that is super easy to follow!
Check in is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and although they do have staff in the office during this time, it’s not necessary to visit the office unless you need something specific. However, the office staff did call us to ensure we made it into our room and to inquire if we needed anything and/or if we had any questions prior to 6:00 p.m., when they depart for the evening.
Parking
Parking could not be any easier! Each guest room has a dedicated parking space directly underneath their room – except for Room #1, which is has a space located in a separate spot closer to the office.
Electronic Door Lock
The doors to the rooms are locked via an electronic keypad. A few days prior to your stay, the Geneseo Inn will email you your personal key code to get into your room.
The door locks are activated by hand movement – simply place your had over the keypad, enter your code, and you’re in! To lock the doors, you just close it up and wave your hand over the keypad once again. Technology at its finest!
Welcome Cheeseboard
I absolutely love little touches from boutique accommodations, and a welcome cheeseboard is definitely one of those special things! This was waiting in the fridge for us when we checked into our room, along with a full bucket of ice.
Our Room – The White Rabbit
We stayed in the White Rabbit (Room #5), which was elegantly and tastefully decorated with natural, earthy tones. There is a also a cheeky white rabbit statue out front! I didn’t get to tour any of the other rooms, but based off the website photos, each room is decorated equally as beautiful.
Note: There are two separate pods of rooms, each with four rooms. I choose the White Rabbit due to its end location (i.e. no neighbors on one side of us).
The Beds
Our bed was incredibly soft and comfortable, and I was in heaven! My husband prefers a firmer bed but to each their own, right? You can just jump right in and let the comfort of that bed envelop you while falling fast asleep in peace and quiet.
Vineyard Views
What struck me the most about our stay at the Geneseo Inn were the vineyard views from our window and little patio. The rooms are elevated so you have a nice view looking out above all the vineyards and past them to the rolling hills. I had one of those “oh, wow” moments when we walked in the door and just took a moment to appreciate the beauty that was ours to see for the next day or so.
We visited in April when the grape leaves weren’t really out in full force. However, it was still a beautiful sight to look out over the vineyard and watch all the little jack rabbits bounding through the vines throughout the day.
Bathroom & Vanity Area
Our room had a separate vanity area located just outside of the bathroom, with a well-lit mirror (this is helpful for doing your makeup!)
The toilet and shower are located in the same room without any type of divide. This does mean that showering will get some water over into the toilet area. Not my favorite feature of the room, but likely necessary to save on space given that it is a shipping container after all!
Also, full disclosure, the bathroom is not super private from the rest of the room. There’s a large slot at the top of the door that’s open. So, if you are bathroom shy in any way, you’ll want to think about who your room companion is for your stay!
We didn’t need to use any of the provided toiletries, but they do provide items like makeup remover wipes, shower caps, lotion, etc. in case you’ve forgotten any of those goods at home.
In-Room Amenities
Other features and amenities in the Geneseo Inn rooms include:
- Cass wine available for purchase at discounted rates for Geneseo guests
- Refrigerator (stocked with water, two bottles of chilled wine (available for purchase), and a welcome cheese board)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Robes (you bet I made good use of mine!)
- Hair Dryer (good to know so you can save on space in your suitcase)
- Safe
Note: There are no TVs in the rooms! This is a retreat for those who value some peace and quiet. Although, if you really must watch a show or movie, the Wi-Fi worked great and you can always bring a laptop or tablet to stream Netflix or something similar.
Breakfast
Since this is a Bed & Breakfast establishment, breakfast is delivered to your room daily during your stay between approximately 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
A few days prior to check-in, we received an email from the Geneseo Inn requesting our breakfast selections. I ordered the banana pancakes with sausage and got the Eggs Benedict for the husband. Breakfast choices will vary daily, and you can also choose from a list of a la carte options (like avocado toast or tofu frittata) if one of the main breakfast entrees isn’t to your liking.
We also were able choose between coffee and a selection of hot teas and juice (orange or pomegranate) to accompany our breakfast.
If the weather is warm, you can take your breakfast out onto the patio and enjoy some of those views while filling up! When we visited in April, it was still quite chilly in the mornings (like 47 degrees chilly), so we opted to have our breakfast in bed. Can’t complain about that!
Common Area
While we didn’t have much time to spend in the common area of the Inn, there is a fire pit, cornhole, and bikes for rent if you are looking for additional activities on the grounds. If you’re staying here for a few days, or with a small group, this is an excellent space to gather together in the late afternoons and evenings!
Camp Cass
If you have a few days to spend at the Geneseo Inn, I would recommend looking into Camp Cass. You can book add-on activities like cooking classes, horseback riding, archery, scavenger hunts, photography workshops, and even beekeeping classes! Think of it as a summer camp for adults! To learn more about Camp Cass, visit their website here.
Cass Winery
Lastly, since we were staying on the Cass Winery property, I only found it fitting to sample some of the wine! Granted, we did decide to open a bottle of the Roussanne we had chilling in our refrigerator at the Inn the night before.
The Cass Winery tasting room is adorable, and the setting is so scenic. This is exactly the place you picture when you think of a winery set amongst the rolling hills of Paso Robles!
The tasting room is also close enough to the Geneseo Inn in terms of walking distance, so if you find yourself at Cass towards the end of the day, you don’t have to worry about a DD to get back to your room!
Pro Tip: Visit Cass Winery for your tasting before checking into the Inn. That way, you get to taste the wines beforehand and purchase some of the bottles at a 20% discount for Geneseo Inn guests directly from your room (they won’t give you this discount at the winery).
Tasting and café reservations are strongly recommended.
Cass Café
There is a café at the winery that serves up salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie platters to accompany your wine tasting. The café is only open until 5 p.m., so if you are staying at the Geneseo Inn, I wouldn’t count on eating at the café for dinner (unless you like really early dinners!)
We didn’t get a chance to eat there (still full from breakfast), but the sandwiches that came out to other guests around us looked delicious! They also have a taco bar available on the weekends as well.
Here’s what the menu looked like during our trip (you can also check out current offerings on their website here):
Overall Impressions
If you like to seek out unique accommodations on your travels, you won’t be disappointed with a stay at the Geneseo Inn! It’s one-of-a-kind, chic and modern, cozy and comfortable, and overall just an aesthetically beautiful place to stay when visiting Paso Robles.
