When staying in the cute little Danish town of Solvang, you are usually presented with so many different options for accommodations. That is unless you decide to book a last minute trip…starting on a Saturday…in the middle of summer.
While we stayed at Hotel Corque for most of our stay, The Wine Valley Inn and Cottages was our home for the first night since there literally was nothing else available! But that’s okay. The grounds of the hotel are just adorable and I highly recommend doing a little walk around to check out the little cottages in the back (which you can also stay at, for a higher nightly rate).
Generally, if you visit Solvang during the week, hotel rates are going to be much more reasonable (at the Wine Valley Inn, you can often get a room for around $125/night).
Checking In
Checking in was a breeze. The staff was friendly and if you plan on doing any wine tasting in Solvang (because this is Santa Ynez wine country after all), make sure you let them know! We got some 2-for-1 tasting coupons to use at a couple of places in town. They even have some handy wine glasses in the room for you if you happen to bring a bottle or two back to enjoy!
Parking
There is ample parking in the back of the hotel, and it is also complimentary. I like free!
Location
The location is awesome! It’s very central, though Solvang is pretty compact and almost everything is within walking distance. You can easily walk over to many restaurants and you won’t really need a car while exploring the town of Solvang itself.
Rooms
The beds were comfy and the room was decorated minimally and tastefully. I do like to see white bedding in hotel rooms because I feel like it brightens the room up a bit! Some places have some seriously crazy patterned comforters…
The bathroom in our room was a little bit dated, but it was clean and tidy. I do appreciate it when the shower/toilet areas are separate from the sink and the mirror since it makes it easier to get ready when you have more than one person in your room!
Amenities to Look Forward To

- Free parking
- Complimentary buffet breakfast
- Mini fridge in room
- Fitness and spa center
- Central location
Hotel Tips
Definitely ask for a second floor room, or at least one that is not right next to the parking lot, if you can. We were on the ground floor and it does get a little loud with all the people coming and going past your room to get to their cars. Better yet, book one of the cute cottages they have available! They come with kitchenettes too, so it would be perfect for families traveling to Solvang to stay there.
I did slightly prefer staying at Hotel Corque over the Wine Valley Inn, but if Hotel Corque is out of your budget, the Wine Valley Inn is definitely a suitable alternative!
